Malaysian Driving License Conversion
When you first come to Malaysia, You can drive with an international driver’s license in Malaysia for up to 90 days. After three months, you are supposed to transferred your foreign driving license to a Malaysia Driving Licence.
Drivers from below countries, are able to automatic convert their foreign driving licenses for class D car licenses. For the list of the countries, Click Here
Document and fees :
- Original and copy of valid driving license.
- One coloured photograph.
- English translation of the driving license by Embassy of the issuing country. If the country has no Embassy office in Malaysia, translation can be done by Malaysia Translation Institute
- Original and copy of the passport.
- Processing fee – RM 20.00

Drivers from Non-automatic Conversions of a Foreign Driving Licence to Malaysia Driving License, drivers can apply for a Malaysian Driving Licence through any Road Transport Department Office (JPJ) or directly to the Road Transport Departments (JPJ) Headquarters in Putrajaya.
Document and Fees :
- Original and copy of valid driving license.
- English translation of the driving license by Embassy of the issuing country. If there is no Embassy office in Malaysia, translation can be done at Malaysian Translation Institute.
- Original and Photostat copy of the passport

Authorized letter from Embassy if the driving license not computer printed.

Approval letter from Indonesian Ambassador if the applicant is from Indonesia.
When the application has been approved by the Director General, the applicants have to submit again the application to the JPJ’s state office for the conversion of the driving license.
Documents required are as follows:-
- Approval letter issued by the JPJ Head office. Validity of the approved letter is one year from the date of issue.
- Original and photostat copy of the driving license.
- Original and photostat copy of the passport.
- One coloured photograph (25 mm x 32mm).
- Processing fee – RM 20.00
