Tioman-Island. The best island if you know where to go

Tioman is one of the most beautiful islands I have been to so far. It’s duty free, so food and drinks are very cheap (Happy Hour: 4 beers for 12RM). It’s a true paradies and it’s easy to enjoy your life there. You can go scuba-diving, fishing, snorkeling or just enjoy the lovely beaches. I would highly recommend to go to the ABC Beach. It’s definitely the most beautiful one as there are no roads and only small huts, located at the beach.

How to get there:

You can go there by bus or plane(Berjaya Air). The flights to Tioman are quite expensive and the bus takes more than 6 hours. I would recommend to rent a car and go there on your own.

To Mersing:

Take North-South Highway, head south towards Johor (from KL or North). Exit at Ayer Hitam (exit 244) After toll gate (see http://www.jputra.com – for road map), take a right turn at the traffic junction and head towards Kluang. Before entering Kluang town, there’s a roundabout, take 3 O’clock. Follow signs to Mersing or Route 3.

Approximate travelling time : 5 hrs from KL

After you have reached Mersing, asked someone how to find the port and take the ferry to Tioman (35RM one way)

Please note that the time schedule is a guide. Often the boats leave only when there are enough people to justify the trip and when the tide and weather changes . Punctuality is questionable. For enquiries call ferry counter at Tel: (6)07 – 799 4811

For those of you who would like to pay a little more but be guaranteed a seat especially during public & school holiday periods go here for online bookings at http://TiomanFerry.com .

During the monsoon, December-February/March, there tends to be only one departure per day, usually quite early in the morning. Best to stay overnight in Mersing and get to the ferry port early on day of departure.
